Schoodic Woods
Winter Harbor and Gouldsboro, Maine
Campground The 100 site campground was designed to create a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience. The density of campsites is lower density than typically found in NPS campgrounds, with a substantial natural vegetated between campsites. The design takes advantage of the natural terrain, with the access roads following to a great extent old logging roads and skidder trails to keep vegetation removal to a minimum. The campground consists of four distinct camping areas or – 33 RV and other large camper sites in one loop; pull behind, 42 van and tent camper sites in another, 2 large group camping sites with a large pavilion at the end of the campground drive, and 12 hike in sites, the only ones in Acadia National Park outside of Isle au Haut. Each loop contains two restroom buildings, with one restroom at group camping and a vault toilet for the hike-in sites.
