Jordan Pond House Tea Lawn
Acadia National Park
Coplon Associates provided site and landscape design for the rehabilitation of the historic Jordan Pond House Tea Lawn. The Tea Lawn has been one of Acadia National Park’s most popular destinations for generations, offering outdoor dining with views of Jordan Pond and the Bubbles. However, years of overuse degraded the lawn surface and aging non-native vegetation impeded the iconic vistas. As part of its ongoing work with ANP, CA was retained to provide a complete redesign of the lawn and surrounding exterior spaces. CA’s design work included a complete reconstruction of the tea lawn using engineered high use soils and turf blends, new brick terrace and pathway system that complimented existing exterior brick surfaces that were retained, new perennial gardens that reference historic planting beds and native plantings to define the bounds of the lawn area. The restored Tea Lawn reopened to the public in June 2018.
