Coplon Associates assisted in the development of a master land use plan for the conservation and development of an 8,000-acre private land holding in the Charlotte metropolitan area. The plan identified zones for development centered around traditional commercial centers. Lands with high conservation and agricultural value were protected as green belts around zones of development. The plan described the amount, type and densities of development as well as designating recreational, agricultural and conservation uses for open space. To date, approximately 3,000 acres have been protected and the initial phase of commercial development has been completed.
