| Over the
course of six years, Coplon Associates assisted the
Bar Harbor Village Improvement Association and T own
of Bar Harbor with planning, design, and fund raising
for renovations to the historic village green. The design
included improvements to all the features of the park
including pathways, lighting, plantings, monuments,
and the fountains. Streetscape improvements included
a new granite seating wall along Main St. and the central
staging area for the Island Explorer, a seasonal shuttle
bus serving Mt. Desert Island. The successful renovation
of the Green resulted from a unique public-private partnership
that included the Town of Bar Harbor, the Bar Harbor
Village Improvement Association Friends of Acadia and
the Maine Department of Transportation. The project
received a 2001 Merit Award from the Boston Society
of Landscape Architects.
